The Swap Shop

This is another area where being a member of CHSSA actually pays you back Got  a surplus of gravel or millings? Have an old but still serviceable piece of machinery laying around? Tired of sending desks and furniture to the dump? Need use of  a garbage packer for a week, or a catch basin  cleaner for a day? Here is where you can find people in the same situation as you are. Some government agencies have disposal policies; some don't. But almost all are able to barter with another public agency. Rather than send $250 back to your general fund for a ten year old Crown Victoria that runs good but is ugly, ask if you can swap it for something you can really use. Ask some one who has done this, it's simple, effective, and a great way to reuse tax dollars to generate results. Document  your swap, and you have not only saved your agency money and recycled something, but you also help build a level of credibility that is hard  to get these days.

The Town of Bloomfield has a large number of FM UHF mobile radios in the 458 band, General Electric Mastr II's, Motorola Radius, and Motorola Centaur's with siren/pa modules, will swap for just about anything useful. We also have some Motorola HT 440 and other portables. We have converted to a Passport based system, and although these were in daily use in marked police cars, ambulances, and other vehicles up to January of 2004, they are now surplus to our needs.  Contact DGofstein@bloomfieldct.org
