Hall of Fame Nominee – Gregg Osborn

You would be hard-pressed to find a coach who was not willing to advocate for their students; this is simply part of the job. A much rarer occurrence is a coach who advocates for all students;regardless of their affiliation. This perfectly describes Gregg Osborn.

Having served in pretty close to every position in CHSSA (League VP, then League President, then Area Chair, and now Historian), Gregg has used his platform to fight for every student, regardless of their creed and background. Gregg has had numerous State Champions, and National finalists, but above success, he has always put access. Even during the recent pandemic, he has fought tirelessly to ensure all of our students would have access to our league’s tournaments, regardless of wealth or technological capabilities.

Gregg and his wife, Jenn have been staples in every SDIVSL Tab and Judges’ Room for the past 20 years, mentoring countless coaches to build, sustain, or resurrect teams. I sincerely doubt you could find a coach in San Diego who has not been personally guided at some point by this man. Throughout his decades long career, Gregg has advocated to have a singular concept understood: Speech & Debate is good for all kids.
